ABOUT THE OWNER:

RKO Electric is a fully Insured, licensed and accredited electrical company - owned and operated by Maine Master Electrician Robert K. Osgood. Mr. Osgood first became interested in the electrical field back in 1976 (helper's electrician license)- while working as a civilian in maintenance on a military installation ( formerly known as Loring A.F.B )
In 1981, Robert enrolled in the Northern Maine Technical College electrical construction/maintenance class...and graduated on the Dean's List in May of 1983. Mr. Osgood passed the Journeyman's license test that same year....and received one of the highest scores in the State on the Master's License test in 1987. Robert has held his Master's License in excellent standing ever since...and is a top-rated world-wide electrical expert at several online electrical consulting sites. Having worked in all 4 corners of Maine (from Fort Kent to Kittery - Rumford to Calais) and most parts of New Hampshire in his 37 years as a Licensed Electrician...Robert has developed a very strong, diverse and well-rounded background in the electrical field. Robert has resided in Bangor, Maine for the past 19 years where he currently lives and enjoys life with his soul mate and best friend - Tamara, of the past 16 years (Wedding is scheduled for May 17th 2013). Mr. Osgood's pride and joy is his beautiful daughter Victoria - who has graduated from her 5th (and final) year of college and working in northern Maine....we are all so VERY proud of her !! She recently married...and there simply could never be a more beautiful Bride !! You - (and now our Grand-son Keagan!) are my greatest gifts Sweetheart !!

Since day one, RKO Electric has insisted that all electrical work be done to our high standards of quality and be fully Code compliant. Although you'll find our prices to be very competitive - we simply refuse to cut corners or jeopardize customer ( or our employee's) safety... all of which has helped build us a strong state-wide reputation for quality second to NONE....and that tradition still carries on today - it is our way of life....the way electrical work SHOULD be. In the Fall of 2012 - these efforts were recognized - and RKO Electric was awarded the prestigious "Best of Bangor" Award for electrical contractors in 2012 ...!! *** The following week..Mr. Osgood's health took a bad turn and he was told that Open Heart surgery was imminent to repair a bad aortic valve.His doctors put him on restricted "light duty" in September 2012 (at which time the decision was made to temporarily shut down RKO Electric) and the operation was scheduled for October 25th.The heart operation went well - but ~ 30 hours after the operation - my Osgood suffered from a complete cardiac failure and his major organs were deprived of blood for approx. 10 minutes.Most organs restarted well - except the liver and kidneys. Within the week - his liver had recovered - but the kidneys did not and this required weeks of dialysis treatments until they we functioning well enough without it.Almost 3 and 1/2 weeks post-Op, On Nov 15th - Mr.Osgood was finally released from EMMC - and continued to use a walker for weeks as he re-learned to walk and his leg muscles regrouped. Due to all the complications , it has been a very slow - but steady recovery...and a full recovery is anticipated by mid/late -2013 ...at which time Mr. Osgood hopes to return to electrical work and fully restart RKO Electric.

Being from the "old school" - RKO Electric still puts quality of work over quantity of work...so if your looking for a job just thrown together or done yesterday...you'll need to contact one of the other electrical contractors in the area. ABOUT THE COMPANY NAME :

The "RKO" of RKO Electric is simply derived from Mr. Osgood's birth right initials...and bears NO relationship to the famous RKO Radio (WRKO), RKO Movies/Studio or RKO Pictures (yes, we get a lot of questions about those here...) Mr. Osgood first created the RKO Electric concept back in the early 1980's...with a goal to fully establish it as a company in Maine before the age of 45.. That goal - as with ALL of Robert's goals - has long since been achieved....with a major roll-out and expansion of the company set for Fall 2013...or once owner recovers from medical complications. ..Watch for updates on this progress as we incorporate and grow.... CHANGES ARE COMING ...at the speed of light ....EXTREME changes .!!
